After 50 years on the cobbles, Coronation Street’s beloved and resilient character Gail bid farewell to Weatherfield on Christmas Day.

Helen Worth, who has portrayed Gail since 1974, has guided the character through decades of domestic dramas, romances, family conflicts, and even a stint in prison.

In June, ITV teased her departure with promises of “a major storyline for the Platt family,” and Gail’s exit proved as dramatic as fans have come to expect.

Reflecting on her journey, the 73-year-old actress expressed gratitude, saying she felt “truly blessed” to have enjoyed such a long and meaningful career on Corrie.
