Scottish painter Jack Vettriano, renowned for his iconic artwork The Singing Butler, has passed away at the age of 73.

According to his publicist, Vettriano was found dead at his apartment in Nice, in the south of France, on Saturday. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

A self-taught artist, Vettriano achieved widespread recognition when The Singing Butler became the UK’s best-selling art print. In 2004, the painting set a Scottish record when it was sold at auction.
